Did you know…
TRUE MONGOLIAN HISTORY
O.T. Molchanova studied 5,400 geographical names in the Altai Republic and found that 423 were of Mongolian origin.
Also, 7 percent or 140 of the 2,000 names in the Kazakh part of the Altai Mountains are Mongolian words.
The governments of Russia, China, and Kazakhstan continue to change the historical names of Mongolian lands.
This is not just a matter of changing the names of mountains and bodies of water. This is theft, an attempt to change the true history to their own advantage.
The Worlds largest turtle mountain..
Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, Mongolia
Just a short drive northeast of Ulaanbaatar lies Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, one of Mongolia’s most accessible and breathtaking natural destinations. Known for its dramatic granite rock formations, rolling green valleys, and winding rivers, Terelj offers a peaceful escape into the raw beauty of the Mongolian landscape.
One of the park’s most famous landmarks is Turtle Rock, a massive granite formation shaped like a turtle. Nearby, visitors can explore the serene Aryabal Meditation Temple, perched on a hillside overlooking the valley. The temple’s quiet pathways and panoramic views make it a place for reflection and calm.
Terelj is also a gateway to traditional Mongolian culture. Visitors can stay in ger camps, ride horses across open steppe, hike forested trails, or experience nomadic hospitality. In every season—whether lush and green in summer or snow-covered in winter—Terelj captures the spirit of Mongolia’s wild and spiritual landscape.
Peaceful yet powerful, Terelj remains a place where nature, culture, and tranquility meet.
